Contribute a walk
Do you have a walk in the countryside you love to regularly walk? It doesn’t have to be in East Anglia, we are happy to cover nice walks all over the country.
Do you have a favourite place in the countryside to visit?
If you do you are more than welcome to share it on this site so others can benefit. You don’t need to be a professional writer or a web designer. We can of course help with all the publishing side of it. We would love to hear from you and will help to make it all happen.
What information do you need?
Truth be told, we are very flexible on this. Given some of the pages on here have been developed from some sketchy notes and some even sketchier memories we can still work some magic.
Walks should be ones you have personal first hand experience of. That way you can help provide an honest account of what the walk is like, and provide the information others want to know.
Rough idea of the terrain
Not everyone is an Olympic athlete. Some people struggle with hills. Others, may well struggle with uneven terrain. Personally, I have a very suspect knee so rough paths can prove a problem for me. By being able to talk about the challenges of the route you can help others decide if it is for them or not.
Parking
Most people will have to drive to the countryside to access any of these walks. Therefore it’s always good to understand the scale of any parking on offer. Also given some sites have what can only be described as ‘adventurous’ parking charges these days it’s good to know what you are letting yourself in for before you get there. One or two walks I wouldn’t do again just because of excessive parking charges.
Catering
Can you get a coffee and a bit to eat? Is it any good?
There’s nothing better after a long walk than sitting down and having a cup of tea or coffee and a bit to eat. Do facilities for this exist? If you can’t comment on this don’t worry, we are still more than happy to have your submission. We can do some independent research fairly quickly and easily to get to the bottom of this one.
Photos
The old adage is that “a picture is worth a thousand words”. This we find especially true, and it’s always nice to see a photo or two of where you are thinking about going. There’s just something about seeing photos that makes you feel better about a place.
As such, any photos you have of a walk that you are happy to share for us to publish are always gratefully received. They don’t need to be masterpieces by any stretch of the imagination. Most of the photos on here from walks we have done ourselves are just quick snaps taken on a mobile phone.
How to submit
Hopefully you have read this and still think, yes I’d like to submit a walk to be featured on the website. Any walks you do submit you will of course be given full credit for. Unless of course you wish to go under the radar and be published anonymously – either is fine with us.
It’s all very simple and takes no more than a brief email covering what is above in as much or as little detail as you want. Just send it to hello@countrysidewalks.uk and we will do the rest
Hope to hear from you all soon! That way we can keep sharing the love for the great outdoors and the marvellous walks and scenery that are all around us.
