Set on the banks of the River Humber, in the shadow of the impressive Humber Bridge. The country park is a popular spot for residents of Hull and surrounding area.
🌿 What the Park Is Like?
- The park was once a chalk quarry and has been transformed into a natural haven of woodland, meadows, ponds and cliffs, often nicknamed “Little Switzerland” because of its chalk terraces and scenic topography.
- It covers roughly 50 acres and provides a wide variety of habitats for both plants and wildlife.
- There are three way-marked nature trails — Meadow Trail, Pond Trail and Cliff Trail — taking you through different parts of the reserve.
- The park includes features such as a bird feeding station, sculptural seating trail, picnic areas and a tree trail for families and nature lovers.
You can also walk up to scenic vantage points on or by the Humber Bridge. From here you will get panoramas of the Humber and surrounding countryside.
Facilities
There are two lots of toilets for visitors to use. One set is in the main car park. Also, there is another block available down on the foreshore.
Dogs are welcome in the country park. However, they should be kept under control to avoid disturbing the wildlife.
Catering. There is sometimes (but not always) catering available in the car park. On the foreshore you will regularly find a local ice cream van. Also, there is The Country Park Inn on the foreshore serving food and drink throughout the day.
